Inspiring a Love for Lifelong Learning
Learning at APPS
- Members of our School Council, sold poppies to the school community, as part of our learning about Armistice Day. We understand that Armistice Day is commemorated every year at 11a.m on the 11th November, to mark the signing of the Armistice between the Allies and Germany, to represent the end of the World War 1 hostilities.
- We enjoyed celebrating the Queen's 90th birthday in June 2016. In our team Houses of Fire, Earth, Air and Water, we held competitions to learn all about the Monarchy over time. Please find some photographs of our learning below.
- At Ashford Park, we learn how to truly care for each other, as demonstrated by several photographs that show our learning of first aid.
Please find details of a landmark website, 'Educate Against Hate', aimed at parents/carers, teachers and school leaders, which provides practical advice on protecting children from extremism, radicalisation and building reslience.
Schools and other education providers have an important role to play in promoting the fundamental British values of democracy, the rule of law, individual liberty, and mutual tolerance and respect of those with different faiths and beliefs, while developing the knowledge, critical thinking and character traits that enable pupils to identify and challenge extremist views.
